I didn't like the idea of running a tireless wheel on the inside for off road use, would be OK for road use. The disadvantage is that the single rear wheel will track abot 4.5-5" wider than the front on each side.

Drive the truck in a figure 8 at a very slow speed (use common sense) when you get them off, clean the hub, inside and outside of both rims, and the center of each rim where it sits on the hub.

Let's say for sake of argument, he can load the axle to it's rated capacity on dual wheels (because he actually can), which is 10lkbs or 2500lbs per tire. Take the same empty truck bed and there's at most 1600-1700lbs on each rear tire (3200-3400lb empty weight).

The reason most people would choose a dually over a non-dually truck has nothing to do with style and everything to do with capability. The extra set of wheels allows for more capability. Pros.
